In the process of dealing with students’crises, college counselors may also suffer from vi carious traumatization. This study examines the level of vicarious traumatization in counselors and the similarities and differences with other therapy groups, and analyzes its relationship with work family boundary flexibility and empathy. College counselors were tested through the Counselor Vicarious Traumatization Scale, Work Family Boundary Flexibility Scale and Interpersonal Response Index Scale to analyze the relationship between vicarious traumatization, work family boundary flexibility, and empathy. The results found that most of the counselors suffered from medium degree vicarious traumatization; vicarious traumatization is significantly different across different types of traumatic personal experiences and between counselors with different numbers of working years. Vicarious traumatization is significantly positively correlated with empathy, dimension of fantasy and personal distress. It is significantly negatively correlated with work family boundary flexibility, work flexibility ability, and work flexibility willingness. Fantasy, personal distress, work flexibility willingness, and personal trauma experience have a significant predictive effect on the degree of vicarious traumatization. The results show that counselors with an intermediate number of working years and personal trauma experience suffer from a higher level of vicarious traumatization, and are subject to the positive predictive effect of fantasy, personal grief, and personal traumatic experience, and the negative predictive effect of the work flexibility willingness.
