奥尼尔的经典剧作《进入黑夜的漫长旅程》与欧美现代主义诗歌传统之间存在着密切关联。奥尼尔在剧中大量谈及波德莱尔、爱伦·坡、阿瑟·西蒙斯、欧内斯特·道森、斯温伯等诗人,以此丰富剧情,激化冲突,形成诗剧交融的风格,展现了现代主义诗歌对他的重要影响,为重读奥尼尔其余剧作开辟了新视角。
Abstract
The tradition of European and American modernist poetry is closely related to Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night. O'Neill talks a lot about poets such as Baudelaire, Arthur Symons, Ernest Dowson and Swinburne. In this way, the plot is enriched, the conflict is intensified and the style of poetry and drama is formed. It shows the important influence of modernist poetry on O'Neill and opens up a new perspective for rereading the rest of his plays.
